Live media (RTMP) streaming instructions

This is a confirmation that the live stream has been registered to our system. Before activating the streaming site, a CNAME entry needs to be added to that domain's hostname records. 

  1. Contact the domain registrar or webhost to insert new CNAME entry to the domain.
  2. Insert <streaming site's URL> IN CNAME to hostname below to the registrar or copy the line to the webhost to add into the domain zone file:
    • <Unique streaming ID number as shown>.r.<Operator's CNAME URL as shown or the default Aflexi CNAME URL afxcdn.net>
  3. Kindly ensure that the streaming site is shown as active in its status. Our system checks for CNAME updates every 15 minutes, once it has been validated, please continue with the following instructions (not available to External publishing points)...
    1. Install the Adobe Live Encoder as instructed by the software itself.
    2. Fill in the form:
      1. FMS URL: rtmp://<Unique streaming ID number as shown>.p.<Operator's or default CNAME URL>/live-<Unique streaming ID number as shown>
      2. Stream : <filename> .sdp
    3. Click "Connect"
    4. In the password popup, enter the unique streaming ID number as the username and the displayed password for the password.
    5. Click "Start" to start publishing the stream live!

Stream with Long Tail or other RTMP player(e.g. Adobe Flash player):

  1. For Long Tail, open the player wizard.
  2. Put the streamer field value as rtmp://<streaming site's URL>/live-<unique streaming ID number> and the filename field's value as <filename> .sdp (e.g. mystreamname.sdp).
Streaming with Apple iOS devices (e.g. iPod*, iPad*, iPhone*):
  • Enter the URL to the device's player: http://<streaming site's URL>/live-<unique streaming ID number>/<filename>.sdp?format=apple (the filename as <filename>.sdp (e.g. mystreamname.sdp).
Streaming with RTSP players or devices, e.g. Quicktime, VLC Player, Android etc:
  • Enter the URL to the device's player: http://<streaming site's URL>/live-<unique streaming ID number>/<filename>.sdp?format=rtsp (the filename as <filename>.sdp (e.g. mystreamname.sdp).
